BIG magazine

BIG magazine is packed full of stories about people whose lives have changed for the better thanks to the Big Lottery Fund, currently the largest distributor of good causes money.

England

In the latest edition of Big Magazine England read about the ordinary people who do extraordinary things on behalf of others, like our People’s Champion, Cas Beckett. She runs a support service for men who have carried the damaging burden of childhood abuse into adulthood. And there’s Pat Penny, who has started a refuge for vulnerable and homeless teenagers. Both women’s caring attitude, selflessness and dedication are inspirational, and there are many more like them running Lottery-funded projects all over England.

Northern Ireland

Read the inspirational story of Tony Laverty who was left with a brain-damaging virus after being bitten by a mosquito but has refused to let his condition rule his life. Find out how an Awards for All grant is making a major difference to those who are living rough on the streets of Belfast.  And discover how the Man Alive! van is making Northern Ireland’s farmers more health conscious.

Scotland

In the latest issue of BIG magazine Scotland, read about Graham Conquer, who despite being homeless has now opened his first bank account, and Evelyn Ralston, who having become a carer to a loved one with dementia is finally getting the support to help with her new caring role.

Wales

In the latest issue of Big magazine Wales, read about 16- year-old Holly who was just 14 when she text her mother from a holiday park in mid-Wales to break the news she was pregnant, and how Sharon Naylor beat the bottle after injury cut short her bodybuilding career. We also feature a deaf, visually impaired teenager who has been hailed as the modern day Beethoven.
