Recent research has shown that 1 in 30 young people leaving care in Scotland are at risk of becoming homeless. Now, thanks to an award of almost £200,000 from the Big Lottery Fund (BIG), over 400 of these young people will be given new opportunities to access volunteering, education, training and employment.

13 May 2008 The future is bright for Lothian carers and young people
Carers and vulnerable young people across Edinburgh and the Lothians will be able to face the future with confidence, thanks to funding announced today by the Big Lottery Fund. The awards made to Voices of Carers Across Lothian (VOCAL) and The Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children means that over £700,000 will be invested in improving the quality of life of unpaid carers and children as young as five years old.
