About Northern Ireland

Grant-making priorities are decided in Northern Ireland, and take into account the views expressed by voluntary and statutory organisations. Decisions on the grants awarded are made by our Committee which has been recruited in Northern Ireland and is made up of people who have an understanding of Northern Ireland’s needs.

Funding is delivered through programmes that we design and develop to reflect local needs and priorities. These programmes help us to achieve our core objective to bring real improvements to communities, and to the lives of people most in need.

Underpinning our work is a commitment to our values with principles that inform our approach to funding. We want to provide you, our customers, with a first class service and make it easy for you to find out how to access Lottery funding.

The Northern Ireland teams are:

  • a grants teams who work on our programmes
  • a policy development and public affairs team
  • a press and communications team
  • an administration team.

We have a management team for Northern Ireland made up of the heads of Operations, Policy Development and Public Affairs, Press and Communications and Planning and Support, led by the Director for Northern Ireland.

Partnership working is very important to us, not only between our teams but also with the other country offices and Directorates.  We have strong links with our key stakeholders including voluntary and community groups, public agencies and organisations committed to bringing about a better quality of life for people in Northern Ireland.
