Programme detailsFor areas: Scotland Presenter Dougie Vipond has unveiled the 18 groups who will appear in a BBC series in late summer as part of the Big Lottery Fund’s Primetime programme. 
Launched last year, Primetime allows communities to celebrate Scotland’s older people by supporting projects that enable the over 50s to get active and stay healthy. Primetime is the largest public involvement initiative in Scotland deciding where Lottery players’ good cause money is spent. A total of £3 million is in the pot, with the final 18 groups split into six regional areas. The winner in each area – voted by the public – will be in line for up to £500,000. The Big Lottery Fund received 149 applications from hopeful groups around the country, and now after a rigorous assessment process the final 18 will have their chance to tell people all over Scotland about what they do. The final 18 groups will all compete in a public vote where viewers decide which projects should receive the funding. The six part series is due to transmit later this summer on BBC Scotland. Each week three groups in a regional area are up for the public vote, with the lines opening at the end of each episode. The winner from each episode will then be announced the following week, with further reports on the groups on BBC Radio Scotland’s MacAulay & Co.
