£200 million of investment in environmental projects across England to improve communities and lives

Access to Nature

This programme opened a final round of capital funding for heat generating technologies and energy efficient measures on 1 December 2011. The closing date for completed applications is 29 February 2012.

Access to Nature is run by Natural England on behalf of a consortium of major environmental organisations.  It is a £25 million grants programme to encourage people from all backgrounds to understand, access and enjoy our natural environment.

This programme launched on 28 April 2008.

It aims to encourage more people to enjoy the outdoors, particularly those who face social exclusion or those that currently have little or no contact with the natural environment. It will fund projects in urban, rural and coastal communities across England.

The programme will award grants of between £50,000 and £500,000 to support projects that deliver one or more of the programmes main outcomes. In addition the programme will make a small number of larger grants of over £500,000 for projects which have a national significance or impact

Are you eligible?

Access to Nature will only award grants to not-for-profit community based organisations in England. This includes: community groups governed by a written constitution, registered charities and trusts, parish councils, schools and colleges, companies with a charitable purpose and community focus, mutual societies, church-based and other faith organisations.
