Summary of the programme

The Community Sustainable Energy (CSEP) programme, run by BRE (Building Research Establishment), opened on 7 April 2008. The programme will help community-based organisations in England reduce their environmental impact through the installation of energy saving measures and microgeneration technologies (producing heat or electricity on a small-scale from a low carbon source). The scheme will also fund development studies that help community organisations to find out if a microgeneration and energy efficiency project will work for them.

The following grants are available:

  • Capital grants –projects can apply for up to £50,000 or 50 per cent of the project cost (whichever is lower).
  • Project Development Grants – maximum grant available is £5,000 or 75 per cent of the study cost – whichever is lower.

Deadline

  • The programme is expected to be open until 2010. Please check the Community Sustainable Energy website for information on deadlines for specific funding rounds.
