Programme details
For areas: Wales Open for applications: 3 January 2005 Application closing date: 31 January 2008 Minimum grant: £500 Maximum grant: £5000 Total available: £1 million
Make it Happen will give out £1million in Wales over the next three years for projects, activities and equipment that will make a difference to young people aged 10 - 19.
Make it happen will operate throughout Wales and we welcome applications from all sectors of the community. Grants will be from between £500 to £5,000. We will not make grants to individuals.
Only groups working with young people can apply. They may be voluntary groups or statutory bodies, but the project or activity must have been planned and developed by young people.
An application from a school or statutory youth club will have to show that the activity is beyond those that normally go on within the school or club. For legal reasons every group that receives a grant must have at least one person over 18 years old on their management committee or apply through another organisation.
All projects must meet one of the Young People’s Fund aims. If we have more applications than we are able to fund, we will give priority to the following:
- Groups run by disabled young people
- Groups run by young people from black and minority ethnic background
- Small groups that have not had Lottery funding before
- Groups of young people facing particular issues or disadvantage
- Projects which promote integration between young people with different experiences or backgrounds.
We welcome applications for projects combining different activities. Some examples of what we could fund are:
- Trips to places that young people might not normally visit
- Trying out adventurous activities
- Events and festivals run by young people for young people
- Community projects
- Workshop activities.
We will pay for, among other things, travel, equipment, activity, staff costs and volunteer expenses. We will fund other activities but you should check with us on 01686 611700 before applying if you need a grant for something a bit different.
