1. What is the partnership?

The Big Lottery Fund is supporting the The Secret Millioniare website through its Awards for All programme. Visitors to the site will be able to

  1. Nominate a community project they think would benefit from Big Lottery Funding. The organisation will then be contacted by the Big Lottery Fund to see if it is eligible for its small grants scheme, Awards for All and sent the relevant information.Apply directly. If people have an idea for a project that can bring real improvements to the lives of communities, and can pass a simple eligibility test (see information below), they can apply to Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme

Successful applicants to The Secret Millionaire Fund may then be selected for filming by Channel 4 and appear on the website. Applicants will be asked to opt in to this at the point of application.

2. How and when can I apply?

You can apply via The Secret Millionaire website. You will need to complete some eligibility questions online and then provided with the appropriate application materials. Applications are open from 10th May to 21st December 2009.

You can apply at least three months before your project starts, and complete your project within one year.

3. Who is eligible?

To successfully apply to the Secret Millionaire Fund, the same eligibility criteria as Big Lottery Fund Awards for All programme apply.

This varies according to which country you are in so please see the Awards for All website.Or visit the The Secret Millionaire website and take the simple eligibiliity test.

4. How much money can you apply for?

Grants of between £300 and £10,000 (£5,000 in Wales) are available. Projects must be completed within one year. These vary in each country.

5. What is the total money available through this partnership

The Big Lottery Fund has made up to £1 million available for grants to be awarded through The Secret Millionaire partnership (nominated or direct applicants).

6. How do I nominate a project for funding?

You can nominate a project via The Secret Millionaire website. You will need to provide as much information as possible. BIG will then contact the project, ask some eligibility questions and provide them with appropriate application materials. You can nominate a project from 10 May up until 21 December 2009. Applications are open from 10th May to 21st December 2009.

All information will be available on The Secret Millionaire website

8. Will any other organisations be involved or benefit from the initiative?

The Secret Millionaire website will raise awareness of services and organisations in the sectors of charitable giving and volunteering.

Services such as Justgiving, Timebank, Do It will be integrated into the site so that users can get involved in the specific projects mentioned or ones featured in the various series of the TV show – or just offer their time and/or donations to a wider range of good causes.
