An exciting rural initiative from the BIG Lottery Fund and the BBC, challenging villages across the UK to come up with brilliant ideas for brand new businesses

Six successful enterprises will share up to £3 million and will work closely with a Village Champion to get their businesses up and running.

Summary

Last summer we invited villages across the UK to apply to us with ideas for enterprises that will revive their communities, create new jobs and improve the quality of life of local people.

We have now chosen six winning village business schemes to receive Lottery funding and appear in a six-part BBC TV series in 2011.

Village SOS Learning Campaign

We have also funded another four village schemes, which will form part of the Village SOS Learning Campaign. The campaign will accompany the BBC series and aims to inspire enterprising villages across the UK to start their own businesses and regenerate their communities.
