Inside BIG:
Living with loss: It is every family’s worst nightmare but every year hundreds of parents have to deal with the devastating impact of sudden infant death syndrome. James and Elaine Penman from Dunfermline are using their experience to help others in the same situation.
No place like home: For the homeless Christmas can be a particularly lonely and depressing time. Just ask Melissa Frost, 26, who has spent most of her life moving from place-to-place while enduring years of mental ill-health. Here she explains why this year things are finally looking up as she prepares to spend her first Christmas in her own home.
Going for Gold: Since the 1980s Kelvinhall International Sports Arena in Glasgow has played host to some of the biggest names in world athletics. More recently, though, it was the turn of senior figures from Glasgow’s Asian community to limber up trackside.
Burgh Halls Revisited: One of Glasgow’s most treasured buildings, the Maryhill Burgh Halls, is being restored to its former glory, thanks to BIG funding and the drive and determination of its local community. Memories came flooding back when BIG magazine went to meet four people who were there in its heyday.
Our dreams have come true: They say love can find you when you least expect it. Just ask Bob O’Neill and Lorraine McIntosh, who had almost given up hope before finding one another through a Lottery-funded project. Romance was in the air when Lorna McNiven went to find out more.
