Linking policy

Urgent alert! - email hoaxes

A number of emails are currently being circulated using the Big Lottery Fund name to tell people that they have won money. Another version uses the Olympic Lottery’s name. These emails are hoaxes and should be ignored. The best thing you can do is delete them and tell your friends and colleagues to do the same.

The Big Lottery Fund does not give away prize money: we hand out the money raised by the UK National Lottery to good causes in the UK and abroad. We only give grants to people and organisations who have applied to us and we tell them that they have been successful by letter, not email.

Camelot deals with sales of Lottery tickets and winning tickets. Their phone number is: 0845 910 0000. We have spoken to the Metropolitan Police about these emails.
