Latest regional grants

Four groups from Yorkshire and the Humber are benefiting this month after receiving over £920,000 from our Reaching Communities programme.

Leeds Action To Create Homes Limited (LATCH) will use its grant of £485,809 to refurbish a derelict building in Chapeltown into a fully equipped training centre.  The Hands ON project will use local volunteers to assist with the building work, enabling them to learn about sustainable construction.  Once completed, the building will be used to run courses in construction, decorating and maintenance skills.

The village of Lothersdale, near Skipton, will benefit from new landscaped grounds at the village clubhouse thanks to a grant of £18,612.  This will enable the local community to use it for community activities and events, including sports and out of school clubs.

Swinton Lock Activity Centre has been awarded £188,362 to continue its Learning at the Lock project for a further three years.  This project offers a range of activities in boat handling, park maintenance and fishing and is aimed at isolated and unemployed adults and young people who face barriers to learning.

The Leeds based organisation Multiple Choice will use its three year grant of £227,893 for its new Volunteer Development Project.  The project will increase volunteering opportunities for people who have experienced social exclusion through long term unemployment, drug misuse or insecure housing.
