HomepagePower to Change Power to Change Supporting community businesses across England Tweet Print Power to Change is an independent charitable trust, set up in January 2015 with a £150 million endowment from the Big Lottery Fund, to support, develop and grow community business across England. In the face of tough economic times, there are hundreds of examples nationwide of people coming together to improve their local areas. From community-owned pubs and sports clubs to community-managed woodlands and art hubs, these enterprises are working for the benefit of local people. Power to Change will help more of these amazing community-led businesses to succeed. Funding and support will be available to organisations at each stage of their journey to becoming a sustainable community business, from inspiring and nurturing ideas to expansion. The Trust will also play a broader national leadership and advocacy role to increase awareness of the social and economic benefits of community business. Since January 2015, Power to Change has been working hard to develop programmes that will truly make a difference to community businesses. Its Initial Grants Programme was launched in May 2015, a £9 million funding initiative specifically designed to help new and existing community businesses to make a step change in their journey towards long term sustainability within the next six months.
