The aim of Impact of Alcohol was to fund a range of projects that would reduce the harm to individuals, families and communities directly affected by alcohol misuse.

It will tackle the diverse range of issues that have resulted from alcohol misuse in Northern Ireland including physical and mental health problems, accidents and violence, debt and poverty, family issues particularly involving children and young people, and pre and post-natal harm.

Funding will be delivered in two ways. A budget of £3 million has been made available for Northern Ireland-wide projects developed and delivered by voluntary and community sector organisations.

BIG is also making £7 million available to the five Northern Ireland Health and Social Care Trusts to work with voluntary and community sector organisations in their areas.

We will use the experience and expertise of the Public Health Agency, each of the five Northern Ireland Health and Social Care Trusts and their partners to ensure that this programme is delivered successfully.
