Young decision makers

In Northern Ireland, the voices of young people are being heard in the boardroom; they are making decisions on how to spend millions of pounds worth of National Lottery funding.

The Empowering Young People programme is about giving young people the ability to cope with challenges in their lives and applicants involve young people in developing, designing and running the projects.

We have a group of young people with first-hand experience of the types of issues and challenges that this programme aims to address. They help us to understand the views of young people. Four of these young people, on an equal basis with four of our Northern Ireland Committee members, make decisions on which applications to our Empowering Young People programme get funded.
